Rice Physics & Astronomy Brownbag lunches for graduate students
September 12, 2019
Each Fall semester provides a great opportunity to tell a new class of physics & astronomy students about the exciting research that we do in the high-energy nuclear physics groups. My favorite opening slide of these Brownbag Lunches is the one that shows one of the pillars in the corridor of the Brockman Hall for Physics. The pillar has a big bronze plaque showing a typical event display of the many particles ("tracks") that are produced in a high-energy collision of gold on gold nuclei as seen by STAR's Time Projection Chamber.
